This story is about the growth of a girl. It explores the kind of person she might become and the different ways life can inspire us. Inspiration can come from something as simple as a piece of text, a movie, a small flower, an advertisement, or even a piece of fruit.
Zoe, a 16-year-old girl, grew up overprotected. The excessive love from her elders felt like a cage. She is curious about the world but also fearful. Her desires and aversions keep her in a safe, still, small room. People come and go outside her world, leaving her feeling forgotten and disconnected.
Youth often brings restlessness, and life presents unexpected possibilities. Zoe writes in her diary that trying durian opened the doors to a new world for her. Durian, known as the king of fruits from the south, has a strong flavor. She wants to try it but also fears it.
One ordinary day at school, Zoe watches her classmates enjoy themselves. When offered durian by her seniors, she initially hesitates. Eventually, they insist and she tries it. To her surprise, she falls in love with its wonderful and rich taste. This experience makes her want to explore the world and its diversity.
